Broken Key Extractors

Locksmiths are often faced with the problem that severed key ends remain jammed in the keyway of the lock. Before a locksmith can open the door to the house or apartment without destroying anything, he must first remove the remains of the key from the cylinder lock keyway. To do this, he needs a key extractor.

This tool comes with different tips. (saw-tooth, droplet shape, angler's hook, etc.).

Which extractor tip is required depends on the foreign object in the lock cylinder and the size, type and nature of the cylinder´s keyway.

The most commonly used extractor is the one with a tip shaped like an angler's hook. This special shape can be used to extract the broken key from the lock relatively quickly.
